Watercolor Paintings

As a photographer of Bodega Bay and the Sonoma Coast, I am inspired to translate my experiences and visual perspective into a complementary artistic medium.

After studying watercolor at Syracuse University School of Art in the 1960s and painting occasionally over the years, I was inspired to revive my watercolor practice after moving to Bodega Bay in 2014.

Composition, color theory, focus, and visual storytelling are essential elements in both photography and painting. More recently, I have incorporated the technique of “Urban Sketching,” combining detailed ink work with watercolor painting to enrich the creative process.

Watercolor remains a medium of movement, spontaneity, and surprise.
